This week was one of the more technically challenging out of all the weeks we’ve had so far. Audio mixing is something I’ve thought was pretty cool but if I learned one thing this week, it’s that I suck at audio mixing. I’m pretty happy with how my assignments came out but I feel like there was more I could have done if I had the know-how. To start the week I completed my Daily Creates, doing the Fake it Til you Make it and the Hipsterfy It creates.
This week we had to complete 12 stars from the audio assignments bank, two of the assignments had to be the storytime audio and the sound effects story assignments. For all of my assignments this week I used Audacity to mix and edit my audio. I started with the storytime audio assignment and I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out. As this was my first time doing any form of audio editing it was a little rough to get started, but I eventually figured out the inner-workings of Audacity. After writing my blog posts for the storytime and sound effects story assignments, I moved on to the assignments of my choosing.
I wanted to do something involving on of my new favorite songs so I ended up doing the Played From Another Room assignment. If I had to choose one assignment to try again, it would probably be this one. The finished product ended up a little to quiet for my liking and the audio is way too muffled. You can find my post about it here. For my last star I decided to do the Going Halfsies assignment. I’m not a big fan of how I joined the two songs together, but I honestly have no clue how to fix it. After writing my final blog post, my job was complete!
